Age 93

WINSTEAD, Dolores B.

(Age 93) Passed away on Saturday, February 1, 2014 in Las Vegas.

Born August 2, 1920 in Flint, Michigan, she graduated with a Bachelor’s Degree in Education from Elmhurst College in Chicago, IL.

She taught at Punaho School in Hawaii and at the Army Dependents School in Heilbron, Germany.

Mrs. Winstead was the President of the Officers’ Wives Club in Arlington Hall, Virginia and owner of Spice Cupboard Antique Shop in Manassas, Virginia.

In her retirement, Dolores summered in Spokane, Washington and wintered in Las Vegas, Nevada.

She enjoyed traveling, gardening, painting, playing cards and video poker and spending time with her family.

Mrs. Winstead was preceded by her husband, Col. Richard S. Winstead.

She is survived by her three children: Richard C.(Amy) Winstead, Sharon A. Miller, and Laurie D. (Kurt) Johnson; her loving companion of 28 years, Morris L. Gaylord and his daughter, Catie (Steve) Gavin; and six grandchildren: Zack, Drake, Vikkie, Emma-Leigh, Jennie (Mike), Glen (Amanda).

Private family services are planned.

Interment, Arlington National Cemetery, Arlington, Virginia.
