Teenage girl arrested, accused of making death threats via Facebook

A 16-year-old girl was arrested Sunday because of threatening statements she made on Facebook, according to the Spokane County Sheriff’s Office.

The girl threatened to bring a gun to Barker High School and kill students on Monday, according to a news release from sheriff’s Deputy Craig Chamberlin. She also made a similar threat to a Shadle Park High School student, he said. Both alleged threats were made online via Facebook.

Deputies examined the Facebook evidence, interviewed the people to whom the threats were made and contacted the suspect. She was arrested on two counts of felony harassment-threat to kill and placed in juvenile detention, Chamberlin said.
