Obituary: Mcbride, John R. “Bob”
He was born in Atwood, Kansas Jan. 23, 1927 to Freal and Mary Ann McBride.
Freal and Mary Ann were employees of the Federal Government working for the Bureau of Indian Affairs.
Consequently, Bob spent his childhood days growing up and attending school on various Indian reservations throughout the western U.S. After high school Mr. McBride enlisted in the U.S. Navy and served honorably during WWII.
Upon discharge from the Navy he began a long professional driving career.
He worked for various trucking companies and eventually retired from Greyhound Lines in 1981 after 32 years.
He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Leone, son Robert (Debra), daughter Michelle, Sister Mary Jo, all of Spokane and numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.
He had a lifelong passion for automobiles.
The bigger the engine and the more noise it made the better he liked it.
Bob also enjoyed dogs, traveling, and boating, but most of all he enjoyed spending summers at his lake cabin in North Idaho with his family and friends.
He was an honest, generous, hardworking American man who will be missed by all who knew him.
A Memorial Service is scheduled for 11:00 AM Wednesday, February 12 at Prince of Peace Lutheran, 8441 N. Indian Trail Rd.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Spokane Humane Society.
