Johnson milestone must wait

Community Colleges of Spokane women’s basketball coach Bruce Johnson was denied his 500th career victory when his Sasquatch lost to Walla Walla Community College 60-58 on Wednesday night in Walla Walla.

Riley Holsinger (North Central) had 19 points, 11 rebounds and four assists for the Sasquatch.

MeShel Rad led the Warriors with 14 points.

CCS’s next game is at home on Saturday at 2 p.m. against Columbia Basin. The game will be televised on SWX.

Johnson honored

Whitworth senior guard Kayla Johnson was named to D3hoops.com Team of the Week, after an outstanding weekend in a pair of games in Tacoma.

The Colfax, Wash., native scored a total of 52 points in two games, highlighted by a career-high 31 points at Puget Sound. She averaged 4.5 rebounds in the two games and led the Pirates to their second consecutive sweep at Puget Sound and Pacific Lutheran.
