Dangerous escaped sex offender may be in Spokane area

Staff report
A dangerous sex offender sought by federal authorities bought a one-way ticket to Spokane earlier this month, according to the FBI. Kevin Anthony Briggs, 28, is wanted in Montana on charges of aggravated assault, attempted sexual intercourse without consent, assault on a peace officer and escape, according to an FBI news release. He’s accused of assaulting and trying to strangle a woman in Bozeman, and he escaped from custody while being transferred to the Bozeman Law and Justice Center. Briggs is believed to have purchased a bus ticket to Spokane from Missoula on Feb. 1 and hasn’t been seen since then, the release said. Briggs is white, 5-foot-5 and 120 to 150 pounds, with brown hair and hazel eyes, the release said. He was last seen in gray sweatpants, a dark hooded jacket, black shoes and a dark ballcap. He also has a tattoo in his armpit and a tattoo on his lower lip. Briggs may try to alter his appearance by dyeing or growing out his hair, authorities said. Anyone who encounters Briggs should not approach him but call the Spokane FBI office at (509) 458-8100.
