Girls basketball: Northeast A goes 0-4 in bi-district openers
Manica Landbeck scored 27 points and Chandler Smith added 21 as Brewster routed Newport 70-23 in a District 6/7 1A tournament opener Friday night in Omak.
Brewster outscored Newport 21-9 in the first quarter and led 36-17 at halftime.
Elise Cunningham and Hadley Stratton combined for 17 points for the Grizzlies (15-7).
Brewster will play Cascade (Leavenworth) today and Newport will play Lakeside (Nine Mile Falls) in a loser-out game. Both games are in Omak.
Lakeside fell 59-57 to Cascade.
In other tournament games, Okanogan beat Freeman 64-33 in Omak and Cashmere beat Kettle Falls 65-26 in Okanogan.
Freeman and Kettle Falls will play in a loser-out game today in Okanogan.
District 9 1B
Colton 77, Pomeroy 29: Jenna Moser hit seven 3-pointers and scored 34 points to help the Wildcats (21-0) rout the visiting Pirates (10-6). Zoe Moser added 23 points for Colton.
The Wildcats play Tekoa-Oakesdale in the district title game Friday in Colfax. Pomeroy plays St. John-Endicott in a loser-out game Tuesday in Colfax.
Tekoa-Oakesdale 62, Touchet 41: Mattie Jo Johnson scored 27 points and Olivia Pakootas added 15 as the Nighthawks beat the visiting Indians (6-9).
Tekoa-Oakesdale (18-3) outscored Touchet 39-22 in the second half. Cierra Jo Mckeown led the Indians with 15 points.
2A District I-II
Grangeville 49, St. Maries 36: Chantel Key scored 13 points and Hailey Sullivan added 11 as the Bulldogs earned a berth to the state tournament with a win over the Lumberjacks in Troy.
Haylee Waddell scored 11 points for St. Maries, which was eliminated.
Central Washington 2B
Lake Roosevelt 39, Bridgeport 34: Lachelle Bearcub scored 22 points and pulled down 14 rebounds as the Raiders edged the host Mustangs. Lake Roosevelt will begin the District 6 2B tournament Wednesday in Wenatchee.
