Snoqualmie Pass to close for avalanche control

Associated Press
SEATTLE — A winter storm warning is in effect until Wednesday morning in the Washington Cascade passes. The National Weather Service expects a one to two feet of new snow by Tuesday night. Restrictions, delays and highway closures are possible on Snoqualmie, Stevens and White passes. The Transportation Department was planning to close westbound Interstate 90 at the summit of Snoqualmie Pass at 8 a.m. Tuesday for avalanche control. The department also says the highway will be closed in both directions at 11 a.m. Tuesday for avalanche control in several locations. That will likely result in an extended closure of Snoqualmie Pass.
