Rosalia’s Nelson sets scoring marks in district win


Craig Nelson broke Rosalia’s single-game scoring record Tuesday with 47 points, including 14 in the first quarter and 15 in the fourth, as the Spartans (13-10) eliminated the LaCrosse-Washtucna/Kahlotus Tigercats (8-10) 79-63 at the District 9 1B tournament at Colfax.

Nelson, who also broke the Whitman County/Southeast B postseason scoring mark, hit four 3-pointers and shot 5 for 11 from the free-throw line. Rick Day held the previous school record of 44 points, set in 1964.

Rosalia will play a loser-out game at 2 p.m. Friday in Colfax against Colton.

Colton 75, Touchet 53: Jake Straughan scored 24 points as the Wildcats (12-6) eliminated the Indians at Colfax.

District 7 2A

Colville 63, East Valley 52: Tevyn Holling hit six 3-pointers and scored 22 points as the fifth-seeded Indians (11-9) tripped up the No. 4 Knights (11-10) at EV. Colville will play at No. 1 Pullman (17-2) at 7 p.m. Thursday.

West Valley 77, Deer Park 63: Alex Hall and Jake Love combined for 41 points as the No. 3 Eagles (15-6) eliminated the No. 6 Stags (6-15) at WV. The Eagles will play at No. 2 Clarkston (18-2) at 7 p.m. Thursday.


Timberlake 49, Kellogg 48: Keegan Scott hit a jumper with 15 seconds left as the host Tigers (9-11, 5-1) edged the Wildcats (11-7, 3-3) to win the league title and top district seed. District begins Monday at North Idaho College with No. 3 Kellogg vs. No. 2 Bonners Ferry at 4:30 p.m. and Timberlake vs. No. 4 Priest River at 6:15.

Bonners Ferry 64, Priest River 24: Cameron Woods scores 17 points as the host Badgers (9-9, 4-2) capped league play by defeating the Spartans (1-18, 0-6).

Central Idaho 2A

St. Maries 69, CdA Charter 29: Cody Posselt scored 17 points and the host Lumberjacks hit 9 of 18 3-pointers to beat the Panthers.


Wallace 77, Clark Fork 23: Brock Arthun, Gavin Rasmussen and Brady Brantley teamed for 57 points as the host Miners beat the Wampus Cats.


District 9 1B

SJE 42, Pomeroy 35: Emily Jones scored 10 of her 12 points in the second half as the Eagles (13-8) rallied past the Pirates in a loser-out game at Colfax. SJE will play a loser-out game at 4:30 p.m. Friday at Colfax against Rosalia.

Rosalia 66, Touchet 62 (OT): Mackenzie Reddish scored 29 points as the Spartans (11-11) eliminated the Indians in Colfax. Cierra Jo McKeown scored 34 points for Touchet.
