A woman was robbed of a gym bag containing clothes and a water bottle while walking toward the North Idaho College campus in Coeur d’Alene this morning.

The woman was walking near Garden Avenue and Hubbard Street around 6 a.m. today when she saw a man walking toward her on the sidewalk, a news release from the Coeur d’Alene Police Department said.

When the man was within six feet of her, he yelled at her to give him her backpack. She refused and he lunged at her and grabbed the bag from her shoulder. The woman fell backward into some bushes. No weapon was displayed or mentioned, the release said. The woman said she’d never seen the man before.

She described him as white, early 20s, 6-feet-tall, “extra” skinny and wearing a black hoodie, black sweatpants and new Nike white tennis shoes with a red swish.

The woman’s backpack was described as a nylon draw-string cinch bag with an NIC softball emblem on it. Anyone with information on this crime is asked to call the Coeur d’Alene Police Department at (208) 769-2320 or email policetips@cdaid.org.
