In brief: Home Depot plans to hire 225 workers for spring

Spokane County – The Home Depot will hire 225 people in the region in preparation for spring, the retail chain’s busiest selling season, the company announced.

“Students, retirees, veterans and reservists are encouraged to apply,” the company said in a news release. Special services are available for members of the military, by visiting homedepotmilitary.com erested candidates can apply online at careers.homedepot.comct “in-store hourly” then enter the name of the city.

The local jobs are among 80,000 that will be filled at Home Depot stores worldwide, the company said.

STCU offers free class on financial organization

Moran Prairie – Spokane Teachers Credit Union is hosting “Organize Your Finances,” a free workshop at Moran Prairie Library, 6004 S. Regal St., at 6 p.m. on Tuesday.

The workshop will teach the benefits of getting organized, how to develop a bill-paying system, what records to keep, what to have handy in case of a natural disaster and where to go for help.

A light meal will be provided.

Holistic fair at Unity Center will feature vendors, presentations

Comstock – The Mind, Body, Spirit Holistic Fair will be from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday at Unity Spiritual Center.

The theme of the fair is “Connections.” During the event there will be vendors and presentations.

Dinner Among Friends to meet today for pizza

Northwest – Northwest Dinner Among Friends is hosting one of its monthly dining events for seniors today from 5 to 7 p.m. at Fieldhouse Pizza.

The meal is $15 per person for all-you-can-eat pizza, salad bar and beverages, plus entertainment.

Adventist school hosting whole foods bake sale Sunday

SPOKANE VALLEY – Spokane Valley Adventist School, 1603 S. Sullivan Road, will have a whole foods bake sale at 10 a.m. Sunday.

Along with the sale, there will be 30-minute presentations to help you make your baking healthier.

The presentation schedule will be: 12:15 p.m., gluten-free baking; 1 p.m., dairy-free baking; 1:45 p.m., whole grains; and 2:15 p.m., bread-making.

The sale will be presented by church members and friends of the school. Samples will be available and items for sale include breads, cookies, homemade granola bars and jams.
