Two stabbings reported overnight in Spokane

By The Spokesman-Review

The Spokane Police Department responded to two stabbings overnight Thursday but do not believe the events are related.

The first stabbing was reported just before 11 p.m. Thursday in the 1800 block of East Sprague Avenue. One man reportedly attacked another man, and a woman is believed to have stabbed the aggressor in an attempt to protect the victim, said police spokeswoman Monique Cotton. She also inadvertently cut the victim in the process, Cotton said.

The woman fled before officers arrived and police would like to speak with her, Cotton said. The two men were both taken to the hospital for treatment of their wounds.

The second stabbing was reported shortly after 3 a.m. today at a home in the 1900 block of West Sharp Avenue. Witnesses told police that a man staying at the home for the last few days had stabbed a man in the leg before running away, Cotton said.

No arrests have been made. Anyone with information on either incident is asked to call Crime Check at (509) 456-2233.
