In brief: Woman accused of trying to strike deputy with car

A 30-year-old woman is accused of striking a Spokane Valley home with her car, attempting to run over a sheriff’s deputy and claiming the drugs found in her purse were for a friend.

Shanell Haddon faces assault, eluding police and hit-and-run charges for a series of crimes that began shortly after 10 p.m. Saturday, according to court documents. A Spokane County Sheriff’s Office deputy pulled Haddon over for traffic violations when she hit reverse and veered toward him as he approached her driver’s side window, according to court documents. A short chase followed, and Haddon eventually crashed into a truck and home about a mile and a half away before fleeing the deputy on foot. Following her arrest, Haddon requested her cellphone from her purse, where the deputy found methamphetamine and scales the woman claimed to be taking to a friend, according to court documents.
