Murder suspect Brandon Mellon’s bond set at $1 million

Bond for Brandon Mellon was set at $1 million on a charge of first-degree murder during a brief court appearance Tuesday. Mellon, 25, is suspected of shooting Arnold Lommasson in the head as Lommasson was playing computer games in an apartment at 2228 N. Astor St. on Jan. 3. Court documents state that Mellon fled to Pasco after the shooting, where he accidentally shot himself in the leg, hitting his femoral artery. Mellon was treated for his wound at hospitals in Pasco and Portland before being transported back to Spokane. Court documents state that Mellon has 10 previous felony convictions and 23 misdemeanor arrests.
