Obituary: Krenz, John Edward

KRENZ, John Edward (Age 84) John E. Krenz was born January 3, 1930, at Wilbur, WA, to Edward M Krenz and Winifred Farr Hall and died February 11, 2014, at Yakima WA.

He attended Wilbur Elementary School and Wilbur High School, He entered the U.S. Army in 1948 and served overseas in Alaska (before it became a state), Germany, Okinawa, Korea and Viet Nam and retired in 1970 after 22 years service with a permanent disability and the rank of Master Sergeant.

His military awards included the Combat Infantry Badge, Bronze Star, Purple Heart, Air Medal and Army Commendation Medal.

In 1976 he graduated from Columbus College, Columbus GA, with a BS degree in Business Administration.

He moved to Yakima, WA in 1979 and was active in the VFW and Salvation Army.

John is survived by his wife, Mary Ann of Yakima; sister, Evelyn Easley of Spokane; niece, Katherine Darrah (Bill) of Spokane and Naches; nephews, Bill Easley of Spokane, Tom Easley (Julie) of Redmond, Dan Easley (Patty) of Silverdale; stepdaughter Sheri Betzing of Yakima, and many great nieces and nephews.

Preceded in death by his parents, aunts, uncles and nephew Edward Easley.

Cremation by Shaw and Sons of Yakima.

At John’s request, there will be no services but a family gathering is planned for a future date.
