Stabbing victim released from hospital

A man stabbed in his garage in the 3500 block of South Woodward Road in Spokane Valley Wednesday night has been treated and released from a local hospital, said Spokane Valley Police spokesman Craig Chamberlin. The victim was stabbed seven times in the abdomen and once in the right shoulder, Chamberlin said. “I don’t know how it wasn’t worse,” he said. The victim told police that he thought his attacker used a Swiss army knife, Chamberlin said. The suspect was described as wearing all black clothing and a black face mask. He escaped in a red Pontiac Sunfire. The victim briefly tried to chase him before collapsing in his driveway. Police are investigating whether the two men know each other, Chamberlin said, but he would be surprised if they don’t. “We’re digging into it,” Chamberlin said. “Random assaults like this between complete strangers are very uncommon.” Crime Stoppers is offering a cash reward for information that leads to an arrest in the case. Tipsters can remain anonymous. Anyone with information is asked to call (800) 222-TIPS.
