College basketball: Eastern women top Weber State with late run

Sophomore Hayley Hodgins knocked down five 3-pointers en route to a season-high 22 points and the Eastern Washington Eagles (5-6, 1-1) used a 15-4 run late in the second half to post a 78-67 victory over the Weber State Wildcats (4-6, 0-1) in Big Sky Conference women’s basketball action on Thursday in Cheney.

Lexie Nelson added 21 points – her fourth straight game with 20 or more points – for the Eagles. Aubrey Ashenfelter added six points, a team-high eight rebounds, five assists and two blocked shots.

Desiree Ramos scored 20 to top the Wildcats, who used a 20-2 run to take a 29-18 lead with 6:08 left in the first half.

Idaho 81, Missouri-Kansas City 64: Alyssa Charlston and Christina Salvatore scored 17 points apiece and every starter scored in double figures to propel the Vandals (8-7) over the Kangaroos (4-10) in a Western Athletic Conference opener in Kansas City, Mo.

Stacey Barr tallied 13 points and five assists, Ali Forde scored 12 with a team-high eight rebounds and Connie Ballestero added 10 points and five assists for the Vandals.

Eilise O’Connor paced UMKC with 16 points, while Kim Nezianya added 15 points and a game-high 11 rebounds.

North Idaho 68, Snow 57: Georgia Stirton scored a game-high 23 points on 7-of-10 shooting and the Cardinals (16-2, 2-1) cruised past the Badgers (7-8, 0-2) in Scenic West Athletic Conference play in Coeur d’Alene.

Kara Staggs scored 13 points for North Idaho, while Jansen Butler added 10 points.

Men

Brad Wallace came off the bench to score a game-high 21 points on 8-of-11 shooting to carry the North Idaho Cardinals (15-3, 2-1) to an 89-76 win over the visiting Badgers (9-9. 0-2) in SWAC play in Coeur d’Alene.

Will Dorsey added 17 points for the Cardinals on 14-of-15 shooting from the free-throw line. Braxton Tucker scored 16 points for the Cardinals – making 8 of 14 shots from the floor.
