Staying Miami football coach Al Golden said Sunday he is not a candidate for any other job, ending days of silence and speculation about his future with the Hurricanes. Golden’s statement did not specifically mention Penn State, his alma mater, which reportedly targeted him as a top candidate to replace Bill O’Brien as coach.

Recovering Oklahoma City’s Russell Westbrook already is off crutches and shooting free throws, but the All-Star point guard says he doesn’t know when he’ll be ready to return to the court for the Thunder. Westbrook, who had his third knee operation since April on Dec. 27, offered his first public comments Sunday. Westbrook says he wasn’t in any pain but his knee “just kept swelling and swelling.” After an MRI exam, surgery was decided on.

Leaving Versatile Oregon running back De’Anthony Thomas has decided to skip his senior season and enter the NFL draft. Known for his speed, Thomas holds Ducks records for kickoff return yards with 1,885 and a 17.1-yard punt return average.

• Clemson wide receiver Sammy Watkins is off to the NFL. A person familiar with the wideout’s decision said the record-setting Watkins would give up his final year with the Tigers to enter the NFL draft. The source also said two other Tigers, receiver Martavis Bryant and cornerback Bashaud Breeland, were also giving up the rest of their college eligibility for the NFL.

Ailing San Antonio Spurs center Tiago Splitter will miss three to five weeks after spraining his right shoulder against the Clippers. Splitter was hurt Saturday night in the fourth quarter of a 116-92 win. The 6-foot-11 Splitter is averaging 8.6 points and 6.2 rebounds in 21.2 minutes this season.

Delaying The Toronto Raptors found a way to deal with the snow and extreme cold in the Midwest. They’ll be staying an extra day in South Florida. Instead of departing for Indianapolis after facing the Heat on Sunday night, the Raptors announced they will remain in Miami and practice today before flying north. They visit the Pacers on Tuesday night. Dozens of flights into and out of Indianapolis were canceled on Sunday.

Seeking A French state prosecutor said he wants to obtain an alleged mobile-phone video of a skiing accident that critically injured Formula One legend Michael Schumacher. Albertville prosecutor Patrick Quincy said investigators are taking steps to obtain a copy of the video cited in a report by German news magazine Der Spiegel.
