Bonner County woman pleads guilty to embezzlement

SANDPOINT, Idaho (AP) — A North Idaho woman has pleaded guilty to grand theft for embezzling more than $15,000 from the hotel where she worked. The Bonner County Daily Bee reports Krysta Rose Finnegan entered her plea on Monday in 1st District Court. Prosecutors say Finnegan, a night clerk at a Days Inn in Ponderay, stole the money by reversing customers’ room charges and applying the credits to her own card. Police say the 36-year-old Finnegan told them she used the money to gamble at a casino and pay personal debts. Prosecutors say Finnegan began stealing from the hotel in June, a month after she was hired. The crime is punishable by up to 14 years in prison.
