Collisions piling up on icy roads

A collision involving three vehicles blocked the two left lanes of westbound Interstate 90 near the Division Street off-ramp in downtown Spokane on Tuesday afternoon.

The Washington State Patrol said the collision involved injuries, but no further information is available at this time.

Traffic cameras showed long lines of slow traffic approaching the accident scene in westbound lanes from East Spokane. Moderate to heavy traffic was seen at other locations on I-90 through the Spokane area.

Emergency crews were responding to numerous other collisions, including slide off accidents late this afternoon.

Hills were getting icy, including Stevens Street south of Fourth Avenue.

WSP said roadways are getting icy and the National Weather Service in Spokane issued a winter weather advisory for the Inland Northwest because the storm is arriving in time for afternoon commuting.

Low-lying areas should see about an inch of snow before 10 a.m. tomorrow.
