Obituary: Wimmer, Robert R.

Age 93

WIMMER, Robert R. (Age 93) Passed away on December 28, 2013.

Preceded in death by his wife Bedelia (Bea), brother Vaughn and sister Eloise.

Robert was born in Valley, Washington and attended grade school in Springdale, WA., then graduated from Colville High School in 1938.

Robert was an active and supportive member of Pilgrim Lutheran Church in Spokane.

During WWII Bob served in the U.S. Coast Guard.

Following the war he continued to serve in the U.S.C.G reserve and achieved the rank of Lieutenant Commander.

Bob married Bedelia (Bea) Tobias in 1943.

She preceded him in death on April 13, 2002.

They lived in Colville following the war.

They have four sons; Dennis of Pullman WA., his daughters Vanessa and Dominique; Donald Wimmer, wife Sharon son Wolfgang of Aurora, CO; Melvin wife Robin and sons Luke and David of Eden Prairie, MN., and Marc of Portland, OR., daughter Sarah; including five grand children and two great-grand children.

Bob dairy farmed at Colville in the late 1940’s and early 1950’s.

In 1954 he joined the USDA with the Agricultural Stabilization and Conservation Service as county manager and in 1961 was transferred to Lincoln County ASCS manager in Davenport, WA.

In 1967 Bob became the manager of Crites Moscow Growers in Moscow, ID.

Our father’s greatest enjoyment came from wood working and cabinet building.

He also liked to help his sons with building projects.

After retirement he built two homes in Deer Park for which he built all the cabinets.

In later years he restored five model A Fords and was a member the Inland Empire Model A Club.

Robert married Leona Huguenin in 2005, a long time family friend and former coworker.

She brought him a great deal of happiness.

They lived in Arizona for a while before returning to Spokane in 2008.

A grave side interment will be held in Colville at a later date.
