Whitworth keeping assistant football coach Jason Tobeck

By The Spokesman-Review

In the second coaching hire announcement this week, Whitworth University football coach Rod Sandberg said he has decided to retain assistant coach Jason Tobeck, who coaches receivers and serves as the recruiting coordinator.

On Monday, Sandberg announced that he had hired former Shadle Park High School football coach Alan Stanfield as his offensive coordinator.

Sandberg said last week that he had a couple other position coaches scheduled to come to campus this week for interviews.

Tobeck, who added the title of special teams coordinator, has coached the Pirates since 1994, which is the year following his graduation from Whitworth and a record-setting career as receiver. In 1993, Tobeck set an NAIA Division II record with 22 catches in one game against Willamette.
