Frederick, defense key Broncos’ victory

Tyler Frederick had 12 points and seven rebounds Saturday as the Lind-Ritzville/Sprague Broncos used stifling defense to defeat the Colfax Bulldogs 44-30 in Northeast 2B play at Ritzville.

The Broncos (10-1, 6-1) held the Bulldogs (7-6, 5-3) to a pair of second-half field goals. Connor O’Neill added 10 points and six assists for LRS.

Liberty 61, Davenport 34: Ryan Thayer scored 26 points and Match Burnham added 19 to lead the visiting Lancers (12-3, 6-3) past the Gorillas (4-10, 1-7).

Great Northern League

Pullman 62, Cheney 35: Race Martin scored 22 points and added eight rebounds as the visiting Greyhounds (8-1, 2-0) cruised past the Blackhawks (1-8, 0-3).

Pullman’s David Ungerer added 14 points. Alex Berman led Cheney with 16 points.

East Valley 57, Deer Park 33: J.T. Phelan finished with 12 points and 10 rebounds and Mason Tidd added 11 points as the host Knights (8-3, 3-0) toppled the Stags (5-6, 1-2).

Clarkston 78, Colville 48: Trevon Allen hit four 3-pointers on his way to 14 points and Trevor Sperry added 18 points as the host Bantams (10-1, 2-1) defeated the Indians (5-4, 0-2).

Tevyn Holling led Colville with 12 points.

Intermountain League

Bonners Ferry 57, Priest River 43: Cameron Woods hit 4 of 5 3-pointers and scored 18 points to lift the visiting Badgers (1-6, 1-1) over the Spartans (1-10, 0-2).

Connor Bennett also scored 18 for the Badgers. Freshmen Hunter Hartwig led PR with 14 points.

Timberlake 58, Kellogg 43: Keegan Scott scored 18 points and Austin Allen added 12 as the Tigers (3-8, 2-0) topped the host Wildcats (5-3, 1-1). Kellogg’s Tucker Gust had 10 rebounds.

Northeast A

Riverside 65, Newport 60: Jesse Anselm scored 20 points and Tyler Axtell had 13 rebounds as the visiting Rams (10-2, 3-1) shook off a four-point first quarter to defeat the Grizzlies (6-6, 2-3).

The Rams scored 29 points in the second quarter. Newport’s Jeron Konkright totaled 28 points.

Freeman 49, Chewelah 38: Colin Ayers scored a game-high 14 points and Jack Paukert added 10 points, six assists and five rebounds as the host Scotties (5-5, 3-1) defeated the Cougars (4-8, 1-3).

Lakeside (Wash.) 88, Medical Lake 49: Cody Watkins scored 18 points and Dominique Watson added 10 points and 10 rebounds as the Eagles (9-3, 4-0) dominated the Cardinals (4-8, 2-3) at Nine Mile Falls.

Northeast 1B North

Republic 60, Northport 18: Taylor Campbell scored 18 points and the visiting Tigers (5-6, 2-3) forced 30 turnovers to top the Mustangs (0-12, 0-6).

Aaron Fritts added eight steals for the Tigers and Alex Rivera had eight rebounds.

Selkirk 67, Inchelium 54: Dominic Cain scored a game-high 27 points to power the visiting Rangers (5-8, 4-2) past the Hornets (2-5, 2-3).

Quentin Halford led Inchelium with 18 points.

Cusick 64, Columbia 14: Alec Bluff led a balanced scoring attack with 12 points and the visiting Panthers (11-2, 6-0) cruised past the Lions (2-11, 1-4) at Hunters.

Northeast 1B South

Valley Christian 54, Odessa-Harrington 37: Nick Cox and Bo Piersol scored 18 points apiece and the Panthers (8-4, 2-0) held the Titans (6-6, 0-1) without a field goal in the fourth quarter to win. Shane Whitaker scored 14 in the loss.

Southeast 1B

Pomeroy 46, Rosalia 42: Riley Bott scored a game-high 19 points and Cody LaMunyan added 13 rebounds and 11 points as the visiting Pirates held off the Spartans (5-5, 3-3).

Pomeroy built a double-digit, second-half lead, but the Spartans pulled within three points in the final minute.

Garfield-Palouse 72, LaCrosse-Washtucna/Kahlotus 30: Matthew Holbrook scored 27 points, hitting 6 of 6 on 3-pointers, to carry the Vikings (10-0, 6-0) past the Tigercats (2-5, 1-4) at Palouse.

Tyler Thurman added 14 points, six assists and six steals for Gar-Pal.

Colton 62, St. John-Endicott 18: Dalton Patchen scored 20 points to lead the Wildcats past the Eagles (0-10, 0-6) at St. John.

Touchet 64, Tekoa-Oakesdale 41: The host Indians defeated the Nighthawks, who were led by Cooper Angelo’s 16 points.

Central Idaho 2A

St. Maries 52, Orofino 43: Cody Posselt hit three 3-pointers on the way to a game-high 19 points as the host Lumberjacks beat the Maniacs.

Nonleague

Wilbur-Creston 59, Curlew 41: Colton Magers totaled 16 points and 11 rebounds while guiding the Wildcats (9-3) past the Cougars (6-4) at Creston. Nick Densley and Garte Townsend combined for 25 points for the Wildcats.
