He was born on April 17, 1949 in Newport, WA.
He grew up in Spokane and graduated from Gonzaga Prep High School in 1967.
After graduation he moved to Creston, WA with his family.
He married Diane Moore on February 19, 1983.
Michael was a member of the Creston Fire and EMS for 39 years.
He worked for Boise Cascade for 14 years, Town of Creston for eight years, and the last 22 years with the Lincoln County Road Department.
Michael enjoyed boating on Lake Roosevelt, Elk and Pheasant hunting and doing jigsaw puzzles.
He is survived by Diane and Nicholas Lanway at the home; two brothers Patrick and John Lanway; and one sister, Colleen Hopkins; nephews RJ (Amanda) and Eric Hopkins.
He is preceded in death by his parents Russell and Barbara Lanway and one brother Timothy Lanway.
Celebration of Life Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, January 18, 2014 from 2-4 pm at the Creston Community Auditorium, Creston, WA.
