People: Rodman apologizes for not helping Seattle missionary
Former basketball star Dennis Rodman apologized today for not being able to help an American missionary detained in North Korea during his trip there to play in a game to celebrate the birthday of leader Kim Jong Un.
“I’m sorry, I’m sorry I couldn’t do anything,” Rodman told media on his arrival at the Beijing airport from a weeklong trip. “It’s not my fault. I’m sorry. I just want to do some good stuff, that’s all I want to do.”
He said he would return to North Korea next month, but gave no details.
Rodman and the squad of retired NBA players he took to North Korea for an exhibition game marking Kim’s birthday have met with criticism in the U.S. because of North Korea’s human rights record and its development of nuclear weapons.
Rodman apologized last week for comments he made about Kenneth Bae, who has been detained for more than a year for “anti-state crimes.” He had implied that Bae was at fault in a CNN interview.
Bieber investigated over egging
Sheriff’s deputies are investigating Justin Bieber for yet another dispute with a neighbor that could land him in court.
Los Angeles County sheriff’s spokesman Steve Whitmore said Bieber has been named as a suspect in a misdemeanor vandalism and assault crime report for allegedly throwing eggs at a neighbor’s home in their gated Calabasas neighborhood Thursday evening.
The 19-year-old pop star allegedly egged the house while his neighbor and neighbor’s daughter were on the balcony. They videotaped the incident, Whitmore said.
Bieber won’t speak to deputies, Whitman said. Depending on the damage estimate, a charge could rise to a felony.
Music network launching live show
The music network started by Sean Combs last year is launching a twice-a-day live television show that it hopes will become a central place for music news and performances.
The Revolt network said Sunday that its “Revolt Live” show will be aired at 5 and 8 p.m. Eastern time from a new studio in Hollywood. The California-based rap performer Sibley and Philadelphia disc jockey DJ Damage will be co-hosts.
Revolt currently airs in about 20 million homes in the United States, primarily concentrated in the eastern part of the country and in Comcast and Time Warner cable homes.
The “Revolt Live” programs will premiere Jan. 27, the day after the Grammy Awards.
