Girls roundup: Indians survive late East Valley rally
Colville’s Sadie Learn hit a pair of free throws with 5 seconds left to end East Valley’s spirited comeback attempt and the Indians survived 52-49 in a Great Northern League game Tuesday night in Colville.
The Knights (9-3, 2-2) were the aggressors early, but found themselves in a 10-point hole with 2 minutes left. An aggressive full-court press brought them to within a point before Learn’s free throws iced it for the Indians.
Colville’s Taryn Main tallied a game-high 20 points and Learn finished with eight. Colville improved to 7-3 overall and 1-2 in the GNL.
Alex Rankin led a balanced East Valley attack with 10 points.
The teams meet again Jan. 31 at East Valley.
West Valley 53, Cheney 32: The Eagles (9-2, 3-0) built a commanding lead early and eased past the visiting Blackhawks (2-8, 1-3). Rachel McGlothlen had 18 points and nine rebounds and Natalie Noble added 18 points and seven boards for West Valley, which led by 18 heading into the final quarter. Cheney’s Katie McGourin tallied a team-high 11 points. The win moved the Eagles into a tie with Clarkston atop the league standings. Clarkston didn’t play Tuesday.
Pullman 40, Deer Park 24: The Greyhounds (6-5, 2-1) pulled away after a competitve first quarter and beat the host Stags (1-11, 0-4). A 12-0 second-quarter run helped Pullman build a 14-point halftime lead. Becca Wickard scored 10 points for the Greyhounds and Katelynn Irish had 10 points and 10 rebounds for the Stags.
Inland Empire 5A
Coeur d’Alene 69, Post Falls 22: Sydney Williams led three Vikings in double figures with 21 points and Coeur d’Alene (13-2, 2-1) overwhelmed the host Trojans (9-7, 0-3). Brittany Tackett added 16 points and Sydni Parker chipped in 15 for the Vikings, who led by 38 points at halftime. Kim Reynolds led Post Falls with eight points.
Inland Empire 4A
Moscow 52, Lakeland 36: The Bears (1-12, 1-0) pulled way in the fourth and defeated the visiting Hawks (3-12, 0-2). Lakeland’s Kelly Ramus made 10 of 12 free throws and finished with 14 points for Lakeland.
Northeast A
Freeman 62, Lakeside 49: Katie Vold scored 18 points and the Scotties (9-3, 5-0) dominated early and cruised past the visiting Eagles (11-2, 4-1). Haley Burke scored 13 points, Sierra McGarity added 12 and Mikaela Pilant chipped in 11 for Freeman. Ashley Cook-Cox and Jocelyn Cook-Cox combined for 30 points for Lakeside.
Medical Lake 57, Chewelah 51: Cassidy Hagel scored 11 of her game-high 14 points in the first half as the Cardinals (5-8, 3-3) held on late to beat the host Cougars (3-10, 1-4). Chewelah rallied in the second half, but couldn’t overcome a 21-point halftime deficit. Maggie Cobb scored 13 points and Sydnie Katzer and Kara Fredrick added 12 apiece for the Cougars.
Kettle Falls 54, Riverside 44: Kourtney Keenan made 8 of 10 free throws and finished with 16 points and Erin Johnson added 12 as the Bulldogs (7-5, 2-3) topped the visiting Rams (4-9, 1-4). Marisa Pace led Riverside with 16 points.
Northeast 2B
Colfax 39, St. George’s 36: Amara Huber scored 12 points and Nicole Sheer added 11 as the Bulldogs (10-4, 7-2) withstood the Dragons’ late comeback attempt and won at St. George’s. The Dragons (6-9, 4-5) went on a 13-1 run in the final quarter, but couldn’t come away with the win. Hayley Higashi had 10 points and six rebounds for St. George’s.
Northwest Christian 64, Springdale 31: Rachel Bozlee scored 16 points and Chanel Knight and Courtney Gray added 11 apiece as the Crusaders (15-0, 9-0) routed the host Chargers (2-13, 1-8). Northwest Christian outscored Springdale 25-6 in the second quarter to take a 35-11 lead into halftime. Springdale’s Eilish Smith scored 20 points.
Reardan 48, Liberty 40: Maddie Johnson scored 18 points and grabbed eight rebounds to guide the Indians (3-12, 1-8) past the host Lancers (4-12, 3-7). Kamille Langford added nine points and 10 boards for Reardan. Liberty’s Christine Denny led all scorers with 22 points.
Lind-Ritzville/Sprague 51, Davenport 39: Jenna Bennett scored 13 points and the Broncos (9-4, 6-2) pulled away in the fourth and beat the host Gorillas (8-7, 5-4). Lind-Ritzville/Sprague outscored Davenport 16-8 in the final quarter.

Almira/Coulee-Hartline 34, Odessa-Harrington 33: Monique Isaak’s free throw late was the deciding factor in the Warriors’ win over the Titans (6-8, 1-1) in Odessa. Isaak led ACH (6-6, 1-2) with a game-high 17 points. Odessa-Harrington’s Sydnee Kieffer scored all 10 of her team-high points in the second half. She also had eight steals.
Wilbur-Creston 67, Wellpinit 49: Jessica Boyer scored 28 points and Kaelee Reed added 14 as the Wildcats (13-0, 2-0) surged in the second half and topped the host Redskins (4-6, 1-1). Wilbur-Creston led by just five at halftime, but outscored Wellpinit 35-22 in the second half. The Redskins’ Kyra Antone led all scorers with 29 points.
Southeast 1B
Pomeroy 56, LaCrosse-Washtucna/Kahlotus 32: Torrie Koller scored a game-high 20 points and the Pirates (4-3, 4-3) dominated early before letting up late in an easy win over the Tigercats (1-9, 0-7) in Washtucna. Pomeroy outscored LaCrosse-Washtucna/Kahlotus 23-9 in the first quarter and led by 25 points at the half. Lindsey Miller tallied a team-high eight points for the Tigercats.

Nonleague
Sandpoint 41, Kellogg 20: Madison Schoening scored 12 points and Hailey Olin chipped in 11 as the Bulldogs (9-5) took control in the second half and beat the visiting Wildcats (6-4). Sandpoint outscored Kellogg 24-11 in the second half to build on its eight-point lead at the half.
Selkirk 45, Clark Fork 29: Katie Couch’s triple-double propelled the Rangers (8-5) past the visiting Wampus Cats (1-5). Couch scored 22 points, grabbed 20 rebounds and snagged 10 steals. Lyndsie Kiebert scored 18 points for the Wampus Cats.
Timberlake 43, Newport 26: Jessica Norlander scored 18 points and Allison Kirby chipped in 11 as the Tigers (8-7) defeated the visiting Grizzlies (9-4). Timberlake outscored Newport 16-7 in the third to take control. Holly Malsbury led Newport with 12 points.
