Jamaica sprinter Powell facing disciplinary panel

Former 100-meter world record holder Asafa Powell has told a Jamaican panel that he did not inform anti-doping officials about most of the supplements he was taking because the products were new and he couldn’t remember their names. The 31-year-old sprinter testified Tuesday, and will continue today, before a disciplinary panel of the Jamaica Anti-Doping Commission about why he tested positive for the banned stimulant oxilofrone. Lab tests showed that the stimulant was in one of the supplements that Powell and former teammate Sherone Simpson, who tested positive for the same substance in June, say they were given by a newly-hired trainer. – AP
