Obituary: Glasser, Dorothy Mae (Helm)

Age 83

GLASSER, Dorothy Mae (Helm) Dorothy (Helm) Glasser went home to be with her Lord and Savior.

She passed away peacefully in her sleep January 16, 2014.

Dorothy was born August 2, 1930 to Fred and Cecelia Helm, in Picardville, North Dakota.

She lost her mother at the young age of four and was raised by her father and stepmother, Dorothy.

On August 26, 1950 she married the love of her life, Michael R. Glasser, in Bismark, North Dakota.

They moved west May 25, 1957.

Together they raised four children.

They were very active in their church, St. Francis Xavier, and repaired many statues, still present in the church today.

Dorothy was also a skilled seamstress and cake decorator.

She made hundreds of wedding, anniversary and special occasion cakes.

She also enjoyed working in her yard.

Dorothy was preceded in death by her husband, Michael; daughter Patrice; her parents and stepmother; brothers Gerald and Ephraim; sisters Viola, Louise and Gloria.

She is survived by her sons Michael, Robert (Phuong), Rodney (LuAnn); grandchildren, Travis, Justin, Melissa, Mark, Tammy, Benny and Tommy; five great-grandchildren Carlos, Donovan, Elijah, Ian and Mason; brothers James, Eugene; sisters Shirley, Irene, Judy, Eldeona, Karen; her very close niece Patty Johnson and many other nieces, nephews and friends.

Visitation will be at Hennessey Smith Funeral Home, 2203 N. Division on Wednesday, January 22nd 5 pm - 6:30 pm followed by a Rosary at 7pm.

Funeral Mass will be Thursday, January 23rd at 11:00 am at St. Francis Xavier Parish, 545 E. Providence.

Burial will follow at Holy Cross Cemetery.
