Mega Millions

Veneno Roadster Lamborghini
Jim Gorzelany CTW Features
What would a lottery winner’s bankroll of $4.7 million get someone in the new-car market these days? That amount could cover the cost of 361 Chevrolet Spark subcompacts or 50 full-size Mercedes-Benz S-Class luxury sedans. Or it could purchase one of only nine Lamborghini Veneno Roadsters that will be produced during 2014, making it one of the most expensive and exclusive rides on the road. For that amount of money one gets what amounts to a street-legal racecar. Its seductively aerodynamic low-slung styling turns heads, while a ferocious 6.5-liter V12 engine snaps necks with 750 horsepower; it can sprint to 60 mph in a mere 2.9 seconds and attain a felonious top speed of 220 mph. By the way, that $4.7 million sticker price does not include a roof, convertible or otherwise, just a strong rollover bar the automaker says ensures “optimum safety” for its two occupants. We’ll assume an owner could afford to have his or her own meteorologist on call to help prevent from inadvertently venturing out of the garage when the forecast calls for rain.
