Late free throws lift Spartans over Freeman

Katlyn Summers sank a pair of free throws with less than 10 seconds remaining and Priest River edged Freeman 40-39 in a nonleague game Tuesday night at Freeman.

The Scotties’ last-second shot was off the mark.

Jill Weimer scored 13 points and Summers added 12 for the Spartans (10-6). Sierra McGarity scored 17 points and Katie Vold chipped in 14 for Freeman (10-4).

The loss snapped the Scotties’ seven-game win streak.

Kellogg 51, Coeur d’Alene Charter 26: The Wildcats (7-5) pulled away after a competitive first quarter and dumped the visiting Panthers (5-7). Andee Wendt scored 11 points and McKenna Stewart added 10 for the Wildcats.

Colfax 43, Waitsburg-Prescott 11: The Bulldogs (13-4) forced 45 turnovers and overwhelmed the Cardinals in Waitsburg. Nicole Sheer scored 10 points and grabbed nine rebounds to lead Colfax.

Wilbur-Creston 67, Republic 55: Jessica Boyer had 22 points and 11 rebounds and Kailee Reed added 20 points and 16 rebounds as the Wildcats (16-0) slowly pulled away in the second half and beat the Tigers (13-2) in Wilbur.

Wellpinit 66, Northport 15: Dyani Wynecoop scored 16 points and Adriana Parr added 14 and the Redskins (6-7) forced 32 turnovers in an easy win over the visiting Mustangs (0-16).

Great Northern

Clarkston 45, West Valley 36: Brooke Morrow and Charlie Dimke scored 11 points apiece as the Bantams (7-6, 5-0) topped the visiting Eagles (9-4, 3-2). West Valley’s Erin Higbie scored 14 points.

Northeast A

Lakeside (Nine Mile Falls) 59, Newport 45: Kelsey Jones scored 19 points and the Eagles (13-2, 6-1) used perfect free-throw shooting to get past the host Grizzlies (10-5, 3-4). Stephanie Marikis added 10 points for Lakeside, which made all 13 of its free-throw attempts. Newport’s Holly Malsbury led all scorers with 26 points.

Riverside 50, Medical Lake 31: Marisa Pace scored 15 points and grabbed 14 rebounds and the Rams (5-10, 2-5) dominated in the second half to defeat the visiting Cardinals (5-9, 3-4). Jaime Hardy added 12 points and Mikayla Shuler 10 for Riverside.

Kettle Falls 46, Chewelah 36: Erin Johnson scored 12 points and Karalee Eslick added 11 as the Bulldogs (8-6, 3-4) erased an eight-point halftime deficit and beat the visiting Cougars (3-12, 1-6). Chewelah’s Sydnie Katzer scored 15 points.

Northeast 2B

Liberty 45, Springdale 38: Christine Denny scored 17 points, Aly Tee had 11 and Macy Cornmesser added 10 points, three assists and four rebounds as the Lancers (5-12, 4-7) edged the visiting Chargers (2-15, 1-10).

Southeast 1B

Colton 78, Liberty Christian 23: Zoe Moser scored 23 points and Jenna Moser added 15 as the Wildcats (13-0) overwhelmed the visiting Patriots.

St. John-Endicott 55, LaCrosse-Washtucna/Kahlotus 28: The Eagles (9-5, 7-3) eased past the visiting Tigercats (1-12, 0-10) at St. John. SJE’s Rachel Gfeller had 11 points and seven rebounds. .

North Star

Wallace 54, Clark Fork 29: Morgan Hill scored 10 points and Sam Woody and Gretchen Farkas added nine apiece as the Miners (10-2, 4-0) shook off a sluggish start and beat the host Wampus Cats (1-6, 0-2).
