Roundup: Bobrantz leads Shadle gymnasts

Kate Bobrantz’s wins in beam and floor exercise and a second in the all-around led Shadle Park to victory in a five-way Greater Spokane League gymnastics meet at Lewis and Clark on Monday.

Shadle finished with 144.625 points. Ferris was second at 142.325.

Shelby Kantner of Ferris edged Bobrantz for all-around honors, 34.325 to 33.8. Kanter also took first on the bars and vault.

Wrestling

East Valley 62, Cheney 15: Vern Sanderson of Cheney came away with a pin at 2:15 over EV’s Trey Meyer in a battle of state-ranked 145-pounders, but the Knights parlayed victories in the first six matches, two by forfeit, for the Great Northern League road victory.

West Valley 57, Pullman 24: Derrick Trinkle’s 8-6 victory for West Valley over Pullman’s Kosey Smith at 152 was the only one of the eight matches that that went the distance as the Eagles prevailed in the GNL match at home. The other seven matches were decided by pins.

Deer Park 47, Clarkston 25: Pins sandwiching a major fall in the last three matches helped the Stags pull out the GNL victory over the visiting Bantams.

Girls basketball

St. Maries 48, Kellogg 45: Free throws in the fourth quarter helped the visiting Lumberjacks hold off the Wildcats.

Kerstin Auer of St. Maries and McKenna Stewart of Kellogg shared game-scoring honors with 14 points apiece.
