Strawberry opening second drug rehab facility

Darryl Strawberry says he has a desire to help others and plans to do it with the opening of his second drug rehab facility in two years. The former major leaguer wants to help former athletes and others struggling with the same drug and alcohol addictions that eroded his career, and he and his wife were in central Florida Friday to open the Darryl Strawberry Recovery Center in St. Cloud. It joins a similar facility already open in Texas last year, and the pair – both ordained ministers – plan to open a third facility close to where they reside in St. Louis later this year. The center offers a 28-day residential treatment program that treats addiction and substance abuse. It also has a program to help athletes address post-playing issues, including concussions. – Associated Press
