Cobain gets his day

Twenty years after his death, Kurt Cobain’s hometown of Aberdeen, Wash., is proclaiming Feb. 20, the late Nirvana frontman’s birthday, Kurt Cobain Day, the Associated Press reports.

“Aberdeen residents may justifiably take pride in the role our community played in the life of Kurt Cobain and the international recognition our community has gained from its connections with Kurt Cobain and his artistic achievements,” according to the declaration.

Cobain was born in Aberdeen in 1967. He died by suicide in Seattle in 1994.
