Liberty Lake assault report investigated

By The Spokesman-Review

Police are investigating a woman’s report that she was assaulted as she walked from her car to her office this morning in Liberty Lake.

The woman parked at Providence Health Services in the 24000 block of East Mission Avenue just before 7:30 a.m., said Liberty Lake Police Chief Brian Asmus. She told police that she was approached by a man who asked for a cigarette. The man reportedly pushed her down and kicked her, Asmus said.

Providence Health Services went into lockdown until police arrived. The man could not be located in the area. The woman described her assailant as a black man, about 6 feet tall, wearing a black hooded sweatshirt, red shoes and gold chains around his neck.

Investigators are reviewing video surveillance footage and also checking into several “inconsistencies” in the woman’s story, Asmus said.
