Man arrested in bike shop burglaries

Police arrested a suspect in two bike shop burglaries this month. According to court documents, police apprehended David L. Hatch, 19, in the act of burglarizing This Bike Life at 10220 N. Nevada St. just before midnight on Saturday. Three high-end bicycles valued at more than $13,000 were found leaning against a dumpster outside, documents say. Hatch reportedly admitted to police that he had committed the burglary and one at the North Division Bicycle Shop at 10503 N. Division St. on Jan. 8, documents say. Five bicycles valued at more than $15,700 were stolen in that incident. Hatch sold three of the bikes to people in three different states, documents say. Two were recovered from a storage unit rented by Hatch. Hatch has been charged with second-degree burglary and first-degree theft.
