Obituary: Boom, Jami Lyn

BOOM, Jami Lyn Our sweet daughter, sister and friend, born on May 4, 1971 in Butte, Montana, passed away surrounded by family and friends on Saturday, January 25, 2014, losing her fight against metastatic melanoma. Jami graduated Kennewick HS in 1989 and Eastern Washington University in 1994, when she made Spokane her home. She has worked for Ecova for the past 13 years. All who knew Jami witnessed a true spirit of wit and sarcasm that couldn’t help but make you smile. Some of her favorite pastimes included karaoke, traveling, biking and working out at BoxFit. She made using the Bubba Keg “cool”. She loved Halloween and all of its fun, especially costumes and giving the little goblins candy. But most of all she loved gardening, yard work and growing beautiful flowers and roses. Jami’s family wants to thank all of Jami’s co-workers for their generosity and support and to all her friends at BoxFit for all their support and help including getting her yard ready for winter. They also want to thank Dr. Kaya and Cancer Care for their care of Jami these past four months. Jami is survived by her mother and father, Jonna and Cecil Debord, sisters Kristi Boom, Jen Rief (Forrest), Cathie Lowrey (Bobby), and brother Jason Debord (Andrea), numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins, her special canine children Lolly and Lucy, special friends, Jeanne Pluth, Johanna Davis, and Jennie Sleeth, and the most special great niece she could have, Abbi Rief. Jami, your smile will be missed by all! Heaven has gained a true gem and a new gardening angel. Jami’s mom, Jonna, says that Jami was one of the most wonderful daughters she could ask for and never gave her a moment of grief. Even in Jami’s darkest hours, her concern was for the comfort of her visitors and family and making them laugh and smile. Funeral service will be held on Friday January 31, 2014 at 11:00 AM at Chapel of Strate Funeral Home in Davenport, Washington, followed by a burial at Sherman Cemetery, Wilbur, WA.
