Obituary: Lamb, Herbert Thomas

Age 78

LAMB, Herbert Thomas (Age 78) Passed away peacefully on January 20, 2013, at the Hospice House, surrounded by family.

Herb was born in Spokane, Washington on September 11, 1935 to the late Herbert Harry Lamb and Ethel M. Barr.

Raised in Hillyard, Herb graduated from John R. Rogers High School.

After graduation Herb went to work for the Great Northern/BNSF Railroad where he was a yardmaster, switchman, and brakeman.

He retired from the railroad after 40 years in 1994.

He loved woodworking and made cribbage boards for family and friends as well as furniture.

Herb’s greatest joy was his children.

He was so proud of them, never missing a sporting event or any activity they were involved in throughout their lives.

He felt the same of his grandchildren and loved attending their events as well.

He is survived by his wife of 58 years Rose; his children, Mike Lamb of Las Vegas, Nevada, Tim (Lynn) Lamb of Spokane, Washington, Jill (Todd) Fix of Spokane, Washington as well as his four grandchildren; Jen, Jillian, Timmy Lamb and Taylor Fix; three sisters Mary Joann Fuhrman, Bobbie Stoken and Ginger Beer; and numerous nieces, nephews and family members.

Special thanks to his amazing team of doctors from the Rockwood Clinic, his caring nurses at Valley Hospital and the wonderful staff at the Hospice House.

A celebration of Herb’s life will be held later this year.
