Indians lose on home run in 12th inning

EUGENE – Jalen Goree’s solo homer in the 12th inning gave the Eugene Emeralds a 2-1 victory over the Spokane Indians in a Northwest League game Wednesday night. The Indians had tied the game in the top of the sixth without a hit. With two outs, Jose Trevino struck out but reached first base on a passed ball. He eventually reached third on an error and then scored on a wild pitch. Eugene’s Franchy Cordero hit his second homer, a solo shot to center field, to break a scoreless tie in the fourth. Andrew Barnett had a strong start for the Indians, going five innings and giving up one run on three hits while striking out eight. Five Indians pitchers combined to strike out 16 Emeralds. Nick Dignacco (2-1) entered the game in the 12th and got one out before giving up the game-winning home run. Despite losing, Spokane (15-5) kept its three-game lead in the North Division over Vancouver, which also lost.
