Obituary: Arndt, Marjorie Ann (Arveson)
Age 75
Margie was born on April 29, 1939 in Newport, WA to adoring parents: Maynard and Myrtle Arveson.
Margie was raised in Spokane, graduated from Rogers High School in 1957, married her high school sweetheart, Denis Arndt, traveled with the military, and eventually returned to Spokane to raise her four children.
After a successful career in sales with United Church Directories, Margie embraced her passion for people and hospitality by opening Waverly Place Bed and Breakfast with her daughter Tammy and son-in-law Lou Dolan, which they proudly operated for 26 years.
Always happy to give of her time and talents, Margie was a founding member of the Corbin Park Historic District; an active member of Salem Lutheran Church, and served on several community boards benefiting residents of the West Central neighborhood.
Margie is survived by her brother John Arveson; son, Scott Arndt; daughters, Tammy Arndt (Lou Dolan), Laurie Arndt (Tim Norris), and Kirsten Arndt; niece, Shelby Stokoe (James); nephew, Chad Arveson; six grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.
Margie celebrated life and was a gracious host with a gift for entertaining, culminating in many family and neighborhood gatherings in her home.
She embraced fun and enjoyed spending time with family and friends poolside in her lovely garden, or at Priest Lake, camping and foraging for huckleberries and wild mushrooms.
An avid sports fan, Margie loved Mariner’s baseball, Gonzaga Basketball, and always encouraged and supported her great grandchildren’s athletic activities.
We are so fortunate to have shared our lives with her and will always cherish her kind and generous spirit, compassion, and humor.
The family is especially grateful to her brother John Arveson, and dear friend Kay Fowler for their love, guidance and support during this difficult time, and sincerely appreciate the many friends, neighbors and family members who filled her last days with love and support.
We know she felt truly blessed.
A memorial service for Margie will begin at 11:00 am Saturday, July 12, 2014 at Salem Lutheran Church, 1428 W. Broadway, Spokane.
