Obituary: Cleveno, Louella Jean

Age 93

CLEVENO, Louella Jean (Age 93) Of Spokane passed away June 26, 2014 at Little River Care Center.

She was born September 16, 1920 to Frederick and Lydia Heimbigner in Odessa, WA where she was raised and attended school.

After graduation she attended Kinman Business School and later married Harold Sleeman.

She and her husband owned and operated a bar in downtown Spokane in addition to the work she did on the farm as a mother and homemaker.

Louella later married Dan Cleveno in the late 1960s.

Louella’s German roots helped make her a wonderful cook and her family ate well as a consequence.

She enjoyed gambling later in life and found luck to be on her side.

She owned many books and was an avid reader, she read the Bible often and thoroughly.

She was an active member of the Zion Lutheran Church in Millwood and attended and served for many years.

She loved being with family and friends.

She was especially fond of her grandchildren and great-grandchildren and looked forward to her weekly “lunch bunch” when she would get together with friends and cousins.

Louella was preceded in death by her husbands Harold and Dan, a daughter Carol Sleeman, and a brother Robert Heimbigner.

She is survived by her son Dale (Elaine) Sleeman and grandchildren Mike (Debbie), Heidi (David), Tina, Tami (Dion), and Travis (Suzanne) as well as 15 great-grandchildren and 27 great-great-grandchildren with two on the way.

A memorial service will be held in Louella’s honor on Saturday, July 19, 2014 at 11:00am at the Zion Lutheran Church at 8304 E. Buckeye Ave., Spokane, WA.
