Diaw will re-sign with San Antonio
NBA: Boris Diaw says he’s staying in San Antonio.
The versatile forward tweeted Sunday evening that he is staying in San Antonio “for a few more years.”
Diaw did not reveal the specifics of his new contract with the Spurs, but Yahoo! Sports reported that it is a three-year deal worth $22 million.
Diaw was an invaluable contributor to the Spurs’ championship run last season.
Diaw averaged 9.1 points, 4.1 rebounds and 2.8 assists last season and gave the Spurs a strong defender as well.
The Spurs have also been great for Diaw, who revived his career after a disappointing stint in Charlotte.
The 32-year-old became a free agent this summer and cannot officially sign the new contract until Thursday.
Lexie Lou takes Queen’s Plate
Horse racing: Filly Lexie Lou won the $1 million Queen’s Plate at Woodbine in Toronto, beating Ami’s Holiday by 1 1/2 lengths in the first leg of the Canadian Triple Crown.
The Woodbine Oaks winner, ridden by Patrick Husbands, ran 1 1/4 miles in 2:03.94 on the polytrack to give trainer Mark Casse his first Plate victory.
The victory was the fifth in 12 career starts for Lexie Lou
Walsh Jennings ties U.S. victory record
Volleyball: Three-time Olympic champion Kerri Walsh Jennings tied the women’s record for beach volleyball tournament victories in the United States with 69, teaming with April Ross to win the AVP Milwaukee Open in Milwaukee.
Walsh Jennings and Ross beat Brooke Sweat and Laurent Fendrick 15-21, 21-16, 15-13 in the final.
Walsh Jennings tied retired former partner Misty May-Treanor for the record. Walsh Jennings also extended her overall record with her 118th career victory.
American women win U-17 crown
Basketball: Lauren Cox had 20 points, 12 rebounds and eight blocks to lead the U.S. women’s team to a 77-75 victory over Spain in the gold-medal game of the under-17 world championship in Pilsen, Czech Republic.
Asia Durr added 17 points, and Arike Ogunbowale had 15 for the United States, which finished 7-0 in the tournament to win its third straight gold.
Angela Salvadores had 40 points to lead Spain (6-1) and earn MVP honors.
Fire, SKC battle to 1-1 draw
Soccer: Mike Magee scored in the 40th minute to give the Chicago Fire a 1-1 MLS draw against Sporting Kansas City in Kansas City, Kansas.
Dom Dwyer scored in the 34th minute for Sporting.

Adu, a 25-year-old attacker, made his debut at age 14 for D.C. United in 2004, the youngest player in Major League Soccer history. He has struggled to live up to the hype, and has bounced around multiple teams over the past decade.
