Achievements: Area residents graduate from military training

Several area residents have graduated from basic military training at Lackland Air Force Base, San Antonio.

• Air Force Airman Damion Loringer graduated from Ferris High School in 2012.

• Air National Guard Airman 1st Class Hayley Nepean earned distinction as an honor graduate. She is the daughter of Jon and Patricia Nepean, of Medical Lake, and a 2013 graduate of Medical Lake High School.

• Air National Guard Airman 1st Class Michael Smith earned distinction as an honor graduate. He graduated in 2012 from Mt. Spokane High School. He is the son of Matthew and Ruby Smith of Spokane.

• Air Force Airman Bret Davide is the son of Post Falls residents Michael and Darcy Davide and a 2013 graduate of Post Falls High School.

• Air National Guard Airman 1st Class Jesse Anderson graduated from Shadle Park High School in 2003 and earned a bachelor’s degree in 2008 from Eastern Washington University. He is the son of Steven and Nancy Anderson, of Nine Mile Falls.

• Air Force Airman Clayton Husk graduated in 2013 from Rogers High School. He is the son of Christina and Brian Husk, of Spokane.

• Air National Guard Airman 1st Class Anthony Smith is the son of Spokane residents Mark and Misty Smith and a 2012 graduate of Shadle Park High School.

• Air Force Airman Matthew Vaughn earned distinction as an honor graduate. He is a 2013 graduate of Ferris High School and the son of Spokane residents Mike and Stacy Vaughn.

• Air Force Airman Michael Panarello is the son of Spokane residents Lisa and Patrick Panarello. He graduated from North Central High School in 2013.

Justin Hoff of Greenacres, has been commissioned as a second lieutenant in the Army through the ROTC program at Gonzaga University. Hoff is a graduate of Central Valley High School and recently earned a bachelor’s degree in physics from GU. He is the son of Wayne and Susanne Hoff.

Erik Peterson, a graduate of The Oaks Classical Christian Academy, has been appointed by Congresswoman Cathy McMorris Rodgers and Senator Patty Murray to attend the United States Military Academy at West Point. Peterson is a National Merit Commended Scholar and earned the rank of Eagle Scout as a member of Troop 313. For his service project, he engineered and installed an audiovisual projection system in his church’s youth building. He is the son of Gina and Robb Peterson.
