Woman, girl found dead in Post Falls apartment; man arrested

Man suspected of killing woman, girl in apartment

A Post Falls man has been arrested in connection with the deaths of a woman and a girl.

Police responded to a home on 15th Street in Post Falls at 11:30 a.m. Tuesday, where a woman reported that a man, who is a family friend, told her he had strangled his wife and child, said Post Falls police Chief Scot Haug. Late Tuesday, police identified the man as Angel Albertico Morales-Larranaga, 24, and said the relationship between him and the victims was “still under investigation.”

The woman told officers that Morales-Larranaga had just left her residence, and officers were quickly able to stop him near Spokane Street and Poleline Avenue. Officers then went to his apartment on the city’s north side and found two bodies.

“As soon as we realized they were deceased, we backed out,” Haug said.

The names of the victims were not released Tuesday.

Two older children were living in the home. Morales-Larranaga dropped them off at the friend’s house where he reportedly discussed strangling his wife and daughter. “Those other two children are safe,” Haug said.

The suspect has been taken into custody and has refused to give a statement to police. As of late Tuesday afternoon, investigators were waiting for a search warrant so they could enter the crime scene at Tullamore Commons, an apartment complex at 4172 E. Laurelbrook. The 50-unit apartment complex was built in 2009. It’s west of State Highway 41 and north of Poleline Avenue.
