Chelsea Clinton speaking fees can reach $75,000

Clinton
From Wire Reports

Like her high-profile parents, Chelsea Clinton is becoming a draw on the speaking circuit, with some organizations shelling out as much as $75,000 per speech. Attention to the younger Clinton’s speaking fees comes as her mother, Hillary Rodham Clinton, commands a reported $200,000 or more per speech.

The family’s finances have come under scrutiny in recent weeks after the former secretary of state said during her book tour that the family was “dead broke” and in debt when husband Bill Clinton left the White House in January 2001. The Washington Post reported that the former president has earned more than $100 million in speaking fees since leaving the White House.

The Clintons are represented by the New York-based Harry Walker Agency, which arranges paid speeches for political, business and media figures, including former Vice Presidents Dick Cheney and Al Gore.

Kamyl Bazbaz, a spokesman for Chelsea Clinton, said the majority of her speeches are unpaid and “all speeches organized by the Harry Walker Agency are on behalf of the Clinton Foundation and 100 percent of the fees are remitted directly to the foundation.”

O’Donnell will give ‘View’ another try

Rosie O’Donnell will return to ABC’s “The View” this September for a most unexpected second act.

ABC announced Thursday, via Twitter, that O’Donnell will join Whoopi Goldberg on the nearly empty couch at the daytime chatfest. Show creator Barbara Walters retired this spring from on-air appearances, Sherri Shepherd announced she was leaving after seven years and ABC didn’t renew the contract of Jenny McCarthy after only one season.

O’Donnell, the veteran comedian whose daytime talk show was wildly popular in the 1990s, spent a combative eight months on “The View,” ending in 2007. She frequently made news, feuding with the likes of Donald Trump and Rupert Murdoch. After a nasty on-air argument with co-host Elisabeth Hasselbeck, O’Donnell asked to be let out of her contract.

Bono’s daughter: Call me Eve Hewson

Those unusual, and sometimes wacky, names given by celebrities to their offspring don’t always work in the real world. Just ask Eve Hewson, the 23-year-old daughter of U2 lead singer Bono. She simplified things during her school years instead of using her given name: Memphis Eve Sunny Day Hewson.

“My parents knew I’d get bullied, so I just went with Eve,” she said Thursday at the summer TV critics’ tour.

Bono’s real name is Paul Hewson. The younger Hewson has followed her father into show business as a fledgling actress, not musician.

Hewson co-stars with Clive Owen in director Steven Soderbergh’s new HBO drama “The Knick,” debuting on Aug. 8.
