Hillyard house fire displaces 4 Thursday afternoon

An attic fire at a home in the Hillyard neighborhood Thursday afternoon displaced four residents, but no injuries were reported, the Spokane Fire Department said.

The blaze was reported shortly after noon Thursday at 2304 E. Bruce Ave., according to a news release. Flames could be seen in the attic and in the rear of the single-story home. Crews extinguished the fire within a half hour and mopped up into the afternoon.

The occupants, two adults and two children, are being assisted by the American Red Cross. The cause of the fire, which caused an estimated $75,000 in damage, is under investigation, according to a news release.
