Obituary: Reed, Donald Eugene

REED, Donald Eugene (Age 67) Of Newman Lake, Washington, passed away peacefully and in the company of his family on Tuesday, July 8, 2014.

Born in Yakima, WA to Ernest and Rachel Reed, he lived most of his life in Newman Lake with his wife Joann, and children Julia and Gary.

Don is survived by his devoted wife Joann of 42 years.

Don was extremely loving and proud of his children, Julia Hendryx and her husband Bert of Newman Lake, and Gary Reed and his wife Jenny of Omaha, Nebraska.

He is also survived by his grandchildren Shane, Sierra, and Seth; his siblings Elmer Reed and his wife Marian of Gresham, Oregon, and Irvin Reed and his wife Wendy of Otis Orchards; as well as many loving nieces, nephews, and friends.

Don was an expressive man who brought joy to the friends and family around him.

He enjoyed telling animated stories of his hunting and fishing trips and loved his dog, Monica.

He worked as a semi-trailer repairman and welder for Hi-Way Trailer, Alloy, and Leland Trailer & Equipment Co. and was a member of Spokane Deaf Church.

Don is preceded in death by his parents Ernest and Rachel, and siblings Barbara Goehring, Dean Reed, Merlin Reed, Mary Rison, Zella Paris, Benjamin Reed, Grace Waltz, and Dorothy Butler.

Don’s family would like to extend a special thank you to the Hospice of Spokane for their loving care and support as well as to Hazen and Jaeger Valley Funeral Home for all of the arrangements.

Visitation will be from 3:00 - 7:00 pm on Friday, July 11th at Hazen and Jaeger Funeral Home, 1306 N. Pines, Spokane Valley, WA.

The funeral service will be held at 2:00 pm on Saturday, July 12th at Hazen and Jaeger Valley Funeral Home, officiated by Pastor Allan Gray of Spokane Deaf Church.

Burial will follow the funeral at Pines Cemetery at 3:00 pm.
