Spokane Humane Society Birthday Party/ Alumni Picnic Celebrate the society’s 116th birthday. The alumni – those that were adopted – will be honored guests. If you have (or had) one of the distinguished alumni, please send the shelter a photo so they may post them on the “Alumni Wall of Fame.” Birthday gifts for the animals will be gladly accepted; check the Wish List at www.spokanehumanesociety.org. 32nd Annual Historic Skills Fair and Mountain Man Encampment Saturday-Sunday, 10 a.m.-4 p.m. In the shadow of Idaho’s oldest standing building, the Cataldo Mission, participants dressed in period clothing demonstrate historic skills such as blacksmithing, quilting, spinning, flint knapping and rug making. 10th Annual Potlatch Depot History Day & Speeder Rides Saturday-Sunday. Take a 13-14 mile roundtrip, hourlong ride on the Washington Idaho & Montana Railway tracks located along the banks of the Palouse River. Eastbound trips to O’Reilly Road, just east of Bennett Lumber Products, will run at 8 and 10:30 a.m. and 2:15 p.m. both days. Westbound trips to Wellesley and South Roads will run at 9:15 a.m. and 1 and 3:30 p.m. both days. Tickets are available in advance from BlackBird at the Depot in Potlatch from 10 a.m.-3 p.m., Wednesday-Saturday. Tickets will be sold on the platform both days, on a first-come, first-served basis.
