Obituary: Cecil, Douglas Joseph

CECIL, Douglas Joseph Born 04/03/1928 ~ Died 06/20/2014 Born in Calcutta, India, Dad finished college with an engineering degree, left his home and moved to the UK where he worked for several years before board- ing a boat to move to Canada.

On the way he met and married his wife of 52 years (Helen C. Cecil, d. 05/22/2010) and started a family, finally moving to Seattle where he worked at Boeing for 26 years until retirement.

Dad was always a supportive father to his children taking time to help them with whatever project or goal they chose.

Dad passed on his passion for soccer, tennis and the long walks that would never end.

A gifted engineer, a world traveler, well read and always willing to speak about current world conditions.

Dad was witty and loved a good joke laughing along with all around him.

Survived by daughters Perlita (Paul) of Alexandria, VA, Karlene (Henry) of Spokane, and son Alastair (Judy) of Carnation and grandchildren Olivia and Joe of Spokane and Paige Alexa Cecil.

Funeral Mass will be held at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Cathedral in Spokane on July 19th at 10:00 a.m. A graveside service will follow for family members.

Memorial donations may be sent to Hospice of Spokane or Catholic Charities of Spokane.
