Job description: The county treasurer is the custodian of all funds for the county and governmental subdivisions, including school districts and special purpose districts. The treasurer is also entrusted with disbursing funds for the county and assorted government units in the county.

Salary: $88,350 per year

Work experience: Self-employed CPA and accounting consultant, 2009-present. Accountant, Spokane County United Way, 2008.

Political experience: Ran unsuccessfully for state representative, 2012. Former chairwoman of Spokane County Democratic Party. Member, Spokane Valley Chamber of Commerce government affairs committee, 2010-present.

Mary Kuney

Republican, 49, married with two children: one school-age, one college-age.

Work experience: Certified public accountant, worked for Washington state auditor’s office, 1993-2004; owner, Contineo Compliance PLLC, 2012-13; co-owner of Spokane-based Summit Tea Co., 2006-08; member of Hutton Settlement board of directors, 2009-14.
