Small wildfires burning on Colville Forest

From staff reports
Monday’s lightning storm sparked six small wildfires on the Colville National Forest. The largest is five acres and is called the Twin-Sisters Fire, said Franklin Pemberton, forest spokesman. It’s burning on the Three Rivers Ranger District, about halfway way between the communities of Curlew Lake and Boyds. No structures are threatened in the remote burning fire, Pemberton said. About 29 people are on the scene, including eight smoke jumpers and a hand crew. The remaining fires are a quarter acre or smaller, and are staffed with local engines and firefighters.
