Two men die in Idaho motorcycle crashes Monday

From staff reports
Two motorcyclists died Monday in single-rider collisions on Interstate 90 and State Highway 12 in North Idaho, the Idaho State Police said. Kent Skoug, 67, of Arden, North Carolina, lost control of his 2001 BMW motorcycle near Lolo Pass while trying to negotiate a left-hand turn just after 3 p.m. The motorcycle left the roadway and struck a tree, according to the ISP. Skoug was pronounced dead at the scene. Skoug was wearing a helmet, according to a news release. Later Monday, 61-year-old Lewis J. Doty of Kalispell, Montana, lost control of his 2013 Harley-Davidson motorcycle on Interstate 90 just west of Kellogg. Authorities say Doty was riding in a heavy rainstorm just after 7:30 p.m. and hydroplaned, eventually crashing into a guardrail. Doty was pronounced dead at the scene. He was not wearing a helmet at the time of the crash, the ISP reported.
